Pricing Policy
At Speech Spark, we believe in transparency and value. Our fees reflect the high-quality, individualised care we provide, including time spent outside of direct sessions preparing resources, writing reports, and liaising with families and professionals.
To keep things simple and to ensure your session is reserved, we ask for payment in advance for assessments and for therapy packages. For ongoing therapy, sessions can be paid for in advance or on the day of the session.

Speech and Language Therapy services- Main fees summary
Assessments:
All initial assessments include up to 90 minutes to get to know your child, explore their communication skills and discuss your concerns. Depending on your child's needs, this may involve play-based activities, observations and more structured assessment tasks.
Initial assessment with verbal feedback- £130
Discussion of findings and practical recommendations.
Initial assessment with summary report- £180
Verbal feedback and a brief written summary (up to 700 words).
Initial assessment with detailed report- £250
Verbal feedback and a more detailed written report with findings and recommendations (up to 1,500 words).
Comprehensive assessment for EHCP- £450
Up to two hours of assessment, relevant professional liaison and a comprehensive written report suitable for use in an EHCP application (up to 2,500 words).
SEND Tribunal Appeals and Independent Reports- Fees on Request
As each case is different, fees are quoted individually depending on the work required, including reviewing existing reports, carrying out assessments and preparing written evidence.
Therapy Sessions:
Individual therapy session (45–50 minutes): £75
Block of six sessions: £420 (£70 per session)
Therapy sessions are planned around your child's communication needs, strengths and interests. We work closely with families to agree meaningful goals and share practical activities and strategies to support progress between sessions.
Where appropriate, therapy programmes may include personalised resources, guidance for parents and school staff, and regular reviews of your child's progress.
Additional Services
Visual Resources Creation- £60 per hour
Communication device (AAC) setup and support - £75 per hour
Telephone Consultation- £75 per hour (pro rata)
Meeting with other professionals- £75 per hour (pro rata)
Review Summary Report- £110
This service is available exclusively for existing clients following a block of therapy or who require an updated summary of their child's progress.
Review Assessment with Summary Report – £180
Available to existing clients who require a reassessment following a block of therapy. Includes an updated assessment of your child's communication skills and a brief written report outlining progress and recommendations.
Travel costs for home or school visits:
+ £5.00 per session if visit is 0-5 miles from clinic (Barfield Road, West Mersea, Colchester, Essex CO5 8QT)
+ £10.00 per session is visit is 6-10 miles from clinic (address shown above)
+ £15.00 per session if visit is 11-15 miles from the clinic (address shown above)
Over 15 miles from clinic, travel will be priced at £60 per hour of travelling, pro rata.
How to Pay
We like to keep payments simple and flexible for families.
We accept cash or bank transfer. Bank details will be provided in your booking confirmation email.
For assessments and therapy packages, payment is required in advance to secure your booking. For individual therapy sessions, you can pay on the day or in advance, whichever is easier for you.
Bilingual speech and language therapy services
Specialist Bilingual and Multilingual Assessments (English, Portuguese and French)
We offer specialist speech and language assessments for children growing up with more than one language, including English, Portuguese and French.
Our assessments consider your child's communication skills across their languages, taking into account their language exposure, development and everyday communication.
All initial bilingual assessments include up to 90 minutes of assessment time, which may involve play-based activities, observations, structured tasks and discussions with parents or carers.
Bilingual assessment with summary report- £250
Verbal feedback and a brief written summary of findings and recommendations (up to 1000 words). Additional brief report in Portuguese or French- £80
Bilingual assessment with detailed report- £360
Verbal feedback and a more detailed written report outlining assessment findings and recommendations (up to 2,000 words). The report will be written in English. Additional summary report in Portuguese or French- £150
Comprehensive bilingual assessment and EHCP report- £700
Up to three hours of assessment, including formal assessment tools where appropriate, liaison with relevant professionals and a comprehensive written report suitable for supporting an EHCP application (up to 3,000 words).The report will be written in English. Additional comprehensive report in Portuguese or French- £300
Therapy Sessions at Speech Spark:

Therapy is available in English, French and Portuguese, with no additional charge for sessions delivered in another language.
Each session is tailored to your child's individual communication needs, strengths and interests. Sessions can take place at our Mersea Island practice, at school or in your home, depending on what works best for your family.
We work closely with parents, carers and school staff to help children develop their communication skills and support progress in everyday life.
Where appropriate, an individualised therapy programme may include:
- Clear, achievable communication goals
- Practical strategies and activities for home or school
- Personalised resources to support learning
- Demonstrations of activities to practise between sessions
- Regular reviews of your child's progress

1. What's included in the therapy session fee?

2. Why do assessments cost more than therapy sessions?
Assessments involve more than the time spent with your child. They include gathering background information, exploring your child's communication skills, analysing findings and preparing recommendations.
Depending on the assessment option you choose, a written summary or detailed report may also be included.
3. My child is bilingual. Do they need a specialist bilingual assessment?
Not necessarily! Our standard assessments are available to all children, including those growing up with more than one language.
We always consider your child's language background and development. However, some children may benefit from a specialist bilingual assessment to explore their communication skills more thoroughly across English, French or Portuguese.
If you're unsure which assessment is right for your child, we're happy to discuss your concerns during a free initial consultation.
4. Why do specialist bilingual assessments cost more?
Specialist bilingual assessments involve additional preparation and analysis to understand how your child communicates across different languages.
This may include exploring language exposure, comparing communication skills across languages, adapting assessment activities and considering how differences between languages influence speech and language development.
This additional work helps us build a more complete picture of your child's communication strengths and needs.
5. Do I have to commit to ongoing therapy after an assessment?
Not at all! There is no obligation to book therapy following an assessment.
We'll discuss our findings and recommendations with you so you can decide on the next steps that work best for your child and family.
6. Can therapy sessions be delivered online?
Yes! We offer online speech and language therapy for families who prefer to access support from home.
Online sessions are charged at the same rate as face-to-face sessions. We'll discuss whether this approach is suitable for your child's needs.
7. Do you offer packages or discounts for multiple sessions?
Yes! We offer a package of six therapy sessions for £420 (£70 per session), compared with £75 when booking sessions individually.

8. What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
We understand that children become unwell and unexpected things happen.
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible, ideally at least 48 hours in advance. This gives us the opportunity to offer the appointment to another family.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged in accordance with our cancellation policy. We will always consider genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances.

Additional charges may apply for home or school visits, reports, professional meetings or other services requested separately. Any additional costs will be discussed with you in advance.

Starter Package – Getting Started with Speech Spark
Perfect if you’re new to our clinic and want a clear plan from the start.
This package includes:
- An Initial Assessment with summary report
- One 45–60 minute therapy session
- Follow‑up email with practical strategies and next steps
Package price: £240 (saving £15 compared to booking separately)
Therapy Block Package – Building Confidence
Ideal for families ready to focus on regular therapy.
This package includes:
- Six 45–60 minute therapy sessions
- A short progress review after session 6
- An optional liaison note for school
Package price: £420 (equivalent to £70 per session)
Selective Mutism Support
Designed for children who find speaking difficult in certain situations, particularly at school or nursery. This package focuses on reducing communication anxiety and building confidence through a gradual, pressure-free approach.
- Initial parent consultation (90 minutes)- £130
- School visit (90 minutes), including observation, staff consultation and introduction of strategies- £110
- Individualised written support plan (up to 1000 words)- £110

Specialist Gestalt Language Support Package
Tailored for children who use gestalt language processing and need an NLA-based approach.
This package includes:
- Assessment with summary report (up to 90 minutes including analysis, planning)
- Three follow‑up therapy sessions focusing on NLA strategies (short 30 minute sessions)
- 30 minutes of liaison with school staff (by phone or online)
