Bilingual Speech and Language Therapy: English, French and Portuguese
What can we do for you?
Multilingual Speech and Language Support in English, French, and Portuguese
At Speech Spark, we offer evidence-based assessment and therapy for children who speak English, French, and/or Portuguese. Our bilingual services are designed to accurately identify each child’s unique communication profile while respecting their linguistic and cultural background.
ASSESSMENT
Bilingual speech and language assessments help families and professionals understand:
Whether a child is showing signs of a speech and/or language delay or disorder
Whether observed differences are part of typical second language acquisition
The child’s individual strengths and areas of need
How the use of French or Portuguese may influence their communication and participation at school
What specific supports and interventions would best meet the child’s needs
Each evaluation includes a detailed case history, observation, and the use of appropriate formal and informal assessment tools, such as standardised tests and language sampling in both languages where appropriate.
THERAPY
We work closely with families to determine which language(s) should be used in therapy sessions—English, French, Portuguese, or a combination—based on the child’s needs and environment. Therapy is tailored to be culturally responsive and may include bilingual resources to support both the child and their family.
REPORTS
We can provide either a concise summary or a comprehensive report, depending on your needs. Full reports are suitable for sharing with educational teams or for EHCP applications.
LOCATION
Therapy is available at Speech Spark (Mersea Island, near Colchester), in your home, or online via Teletherapy.
