Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What’s included in the therapy session fee?
Each therapy session (45–60 minutes, £75) includes:
Direct 1:1 work with your child
Brief feedback to you at the end of the session
Planning and preparation before each session
Tailored resources as needed
Optional modelling of home activities
2. Why do assessments cost more than therapy sessions?
Assessment sessions include:
Detailed background history
Direct observation or formal testing
Analysis time after the session
A written summary or full report depending on the option chosen This reflects the time spent both during and after your appointment to ensure accuracy and helpful recommendations.
3. Why are bilingual assessments and reports more expensive?
Bilingual speech and language services require a high level of specialist training, linguistic knowledge, and cultural sensitivity. Our therapists are experienced in assessing and supporting children in English, French, and Portuguese, and tailor each evaluation to reflect the child’s full language profile.
Here's what contributes to the increased cost:
Dual-language analysis: We assess the child’s communication skills across both/all languages spoken, which involves a deeper and broader understanding of language development and potential differences between languages.
Additional time: Bilingual assessments and reports take longer to prepare, as they include careful analysis of language use in multiple contexts and languages.
Translation or adaptation of materials: Reports may be written or translated into another language, and assessment tools or resources are often adapted accordingly.
Fewer qualified specialists: Bilingual therapists with this level of expertise are less common, and the service requires continuous professional development in both language and clinical skills.
Our goal is to provide high-quality, culturally and linguistically appropriate support that truly reflects each child’s strengths and needs.
4. Do I have to commit to ongoing therapy after an assessment?
No. You're free to use the assessment report for any setting, and we will support you in making informed choices about next steps.
5. Can sessions be delivered online?
Yes, we offer teletherapy sessions for families who prefer to access services from home. These are charged at the same rate and include the same level of care and planning.
6. Do you offer packages or discounts for multiple sessions?
We are happy to discuss bundled sessions if you’re looking at medium- or long-term support. Please ask during your consultation for tailored options.
7. Are there any hidden costs?
No. All additional work such as report writing, meetings or resource creation is clearly listed in our fee schedule. We do not charge VAT. All pricing is current and reviewed annually. Travel charges apply only to home visits and are based on your distance from our clinic in West Mersea.
